Worn over a paddock boot, they complete the leg from ankle to knee, providing the security, grip, and appearance of a tall boot in a format that's easy to put on, maintain, and travel with.
The microfiber bionic leather construction delivers the aesthetic of leather with substantially less weight and upkeep. The material is soft against the inner calf — no breaking-in required — and maintains its shape and structure through regular use and cleaning. The surface provides a natural grip against the saddle flap that improves security in the saddle, particularly during lateral work and jumping.
The zip closure runs the full length of the inner leg, allowing a precise, adjustable fit across different calf widths within each size bracket. The zip is reinforced at the foot attachment and the upper edge, preventing the split that eventually affects lesser half chaps at the points of maximum flex. The silicone elastic under the boot keeps the chap in position throughout the ride without riding up or bunching at the ankle.

These half chaps are excellent. The microfiber feels like leather, grips the saddle well, and the zip is smooth and secure. They pair perfectly with my paddock boots and the turnout looks very professional. Sizing is accurate — I ordered my usual L.
